PSGW Instructor, Beth Wood: RIVER OF SONG – for Experienced Songwriters

There is an endless river of songs flowing at all times. We will tap into the river to deepen our songwriting practice. In this interactive workshop, we will dive into generative writing exercises, learn from songs that light us up, listen deeply and give/receive feedback, and dig into the magic of what makes a song work. How do songs make us feel something? How can we build our songs so they deliver a story with maximum impact? We will engage in wordplay exercises and guided free-writing. We will refine our awareness in noticing the choices that songwriters make. And we will learn from each other!

Recommended for

Level 1

You have just started playing your instrument, or you have no familiarity with it at all. Level 1 classes proceed at the pace of the slowest student in the class -- no one gets left behind!

Level 2

You know the basics of your instrument or a few songs/tunes, and you're ready to venture a little further. Level 2 classes try to follow the pace of the majority of students in the class.

Level 3

You have recognizable facility on your instrument. You are comfortable with the challenge of trying new styles and genres. Level 3 classes try to follow the pace of the majority of students in the class.

Level 4

You have extensive experience with your instrument and you learn quickly. Level 4 classes usually move at the pace of the most capable student in the class -- no one gets bored!

How do I register for the classes I want?

Participants at PSGW don't register for specific classes. All classes are open to all registered attendees. On the first day of camp, teachers present detailed information about their classes, which run for the entire week of camp. There is ample opportunity to talk with the teachers and ask questions about content, skill level required, and expectations. On the first day of classes you simply decide which classes you want to take, and go!
