Abbey Blackwell is a multi-faceted bassist in Seattle, WA. She is a member of many scenes in Seattle’s varied music community, including the improvised music, rock, classical, and jazz spheres. Abbey has performed and recorded with a wide variety of notable musicians, including Alvvays, La Luz, Wayne Horvitz, Jonathan Wilson, Roscoe Mitchell, and Robert Aitken.
Outside of performing, she teaches at Cornish College of the Arts and privately in her own studio, in addition to leading the Garfield HS Jazz 2 Big Band and running clinics and sectionals in a variety of public schools and through STG. Abbey holds a master's degree in Jazz and Improvised Music and a bachelor’s of music in Double Bass Performance from the University of Washington.
