Instructors' Online Offerings

Sadly PSGW Summer Camp has been postponed until 2021, but that doesn't mean our wonderful instructors have stopped teaching online classes, making videos, recording new music, and the like. Here's a directory of some of our instructors' online offerings.

Fiddle, Repertoire

Cayley Schmid

Hi friends and musicians! I am teaching Irish/Scottish/Pan-Celtic fiddle lessons for all levels (even super beginners!) over Zoom and Skype. Happy to help you with new tunes, embellishments, groove, learning by ear, basic technique, etc. I've also been making some videos for my regular group fiddle classes that I'm emailing out once a week. In each one I teach a new tune. Check it out at the link below. If you are interested in being on my email list for these videos or have questions about individual lessons, feel free to contact me at the email link below.

Ed Johnson

Contact Ed for private guitar, voice, arranging, and composition classes online via Zoom. I will also be offering some one-off group classes this summer via Zoom. Guitar, Jug Band

Suzy Thompson

Suzy Thompson teaches a “Fiddles at Four” class which meets twice weekly (Mon. and Weds.) on Zoom for half-hour lessons, at 4:00 pm Pacific Time (8:30 pm East Coast time). If that time doesn’t work for you, you can attend after the fact via the video recordings. Each month focuses on a different theme (such as Arthur Smith tunes; Mississippi tunes; tunes in GDAD tuning), with a review in the middle and a review/jam for the last meeting, in which we're joined by Eric Thompson on guitar. Tuition for a 4 week session (8 class meetings) is $160 - payable either via check (preferred) or PayPal. Actual session cost depends on the number of Mondays and Weds. in a month (sometimes a monthly session will be 9 meetings). All class meetings are recorded and videos made available via Dropbox, along with source material and a short video for each class. All material is taught by ear. Geared towards intermediate-advanced players, this class offers a chance not only to learn some wonderful new repertoire (or to dig deeper into tunes that you may already know) but also to build up your ear-training skills.

Mandolin, Camp Instrumentalist

Tom Moran

I’m teaching using Zoom these days and the best way to reach me would be through email (link below).

Sage

Tristan Scroggins

Patreon is a subscription website where fans can support content creators in exchange for exclusive content. In this case the content I’m creating is videos of me playing/learning instrumental tunes on the mandolin and the exclusive content is transcriptions, video lessons, livestreams, and discounts on merch and private lessons. You can pledge a certain amount to give every month ranging from $3 to $20 (or more) and receive different amounts of rewards based on that amount. Presently there are about two dozen tunes backlogged so at the highest level you would receive access to all of those tabs as well as all of the previous lessons. --- Private Lessons: I often don’t teach private lessons because my travel schedule doesn’t really allow for it but during quarantine I’ve opened up a few slots for online lessons. Please contact tristanscroggins@gmail.com to schedule $85/hour --- Social Media: I am doing a variety of other distance learning events but many of them come up with little notice. The best way to keep up with those opportunities is by following me at facebook.com/tristanscrogginsmusic or at instagram.com/tristanscroggins
